My First Blog
Published Wednesday, May 28th 2014 - Updated Thursday, May 29th 2014Hello to anyone reading. I have heard for a couple of years that Blogging is the way to go and that I should start one. And honestly I have a lot of cool things to say and have traveled the world....but wasn't sure if people would even read my blog. So I just decided....I'm going to blog for me :)
So here goes - my blog topic tonight is the difference between booking something online and booking with an agent. I actually experienced this just last week.
I booked a hotel for a client with Expedia because it was the cheapest price. But, as her agent, I called the day before (as I always do) and discovered that the Expedia record did not come through. It was in Indianapolis during the Indy 500...and they had no record of her room. I called Expedia...they were absolutely no help. I then called Concierge and pleaded and was able to get the room at the same price.
What if that were my client calling...what if it were you? There was no service. I was the service...I was the heart of that reservation. My client paid nothing more for that.
Online agencies make commission too....there prices are not always lower. But they have the volume and money to create marketing and social conditioning.
What I have as a small business owner and a professional travel consultant is heart and the ambition to create the best vacation experience at the best price.
Ok, now that I have that off my chest....I will start writing some more interesting blogs about the incredible places I've visited :)
